Friday, September 21st 6pm-9pm, Saturday September 22nd 10am-6pm and Sunday September 23rd 8am-5pm
Join Samantha Sambooke, Teresa Doyle and Teri Hall for an unforgettable weekend, exploring a different kind of yoga practice. Mantra Yoga is the yoga of sound and it is a complete yoga practice on its own.
On Friday night Teresa will lead you through a Kirtan, which is chanting using call and response along with the sounds of her many instruments. This experience is less about precise pronunciation and more about letting go and connecting to your heart.
Teresa will also be back Saturday to help you discover, play and explore your unique voice. This has nothing to do with singing by the way, so don't feel you can't take part if you don't have a "good" voice. Sound is different from singing. It's more about vibration and how those frequencies positively affect us on all levels.
Also on Saturday, learn the sacred sounds of the Sanskrit alphabet with Samantha. Learn traditional mantras from the yoga tradition, incorporate sounds with movement and take part in powerful meditation exercises.
Sunday, Teri will connect you the sounds/mantras associated with the chakras (energy centres in the body) and create a mala (a beaded necklace with 108 beads for chanting) specifically for the chakra system. Teri will also take you through a Kundalini yoga experience, which uses lots of mantra as well as the sound of the gong.
Location: Charlottetown Yoga Space (49 Pownal, Charlottetown)
